A few pics from April

Just a few pictures from the last month:

at the playground,

art shopping with Grandpa,

getting dolled up for Kevin's Easter Brunch,

and sitting on the beach with Lili.

April seemed to fly by, and often so did Adora. Now that she's walking everywhere and babbling out new words she's officially reached toddler-hood.

No big trips for us in May, but we're sure to be outside more as the weather turns warm(er) and sunny.

Winter 2009-2010

It's been a pretty long time since the last post to this blog, so we'll try to consolidate the winter here. Predictably, Christmas was a VERY exciting time!

There were plenty of fun presents, and lots of great time with family. The Barnetts came to town, and whisked us away for a visit to Monterey and the jellyfish.

And right after that, it was Adora's first birthday, which we celebrated with her first taste of chocolate.

Enough parties? Not quite... the Super Bowl and Chinese New Year were next (note Adora's proper touchdown-calling technique).

Amidst all of this fun, Adora's been transforming from baby to kid: playing the guitar with Dad, visiting with puppies like Doy's boys, Riley and Chai, playing in the park, and loving sand anywhere it can be found.

And perhaps most frighteningly, Adora's developing some fashion tastes, especially for jewelry, hair accessories, and a nice pair of shades!

Months 10 and 11

As Adora eased into her tenth month, she started to show a lot more emotion, and preferences for certain toys and foods -- fortunately there are a lot of things that make her happy:

Winnie the Pooh,

Playtime at the Grandpa Fongs,

and, of course, Mom! (Dad, too, just not pictured here.)

At the start of her 11th month, we moved to our new home, which would be plenty reason for her to get tired or confused...

but she seems to have settled in well,

and is getting ready for the holiday season.

Months 8 and 9

It's been so long since our last posting, we're catching up on almost the entire fall. But, it's important to get it all in before the holiday season photo-ops start!

Adora had some great summer days with the Fongs, exploring the swings at Greenbrae Park, and cooling off in the pool during those hot August afternoons.

Of course there was also time to socialize with Uncle Doy...

In August, Adora also attended her first few weddings. They were both on the Barnett side, which meant lots of time with Nana Lynne and Grandpa Steve...

And cousins Joshua and Hannah.

And somebody (Mom) set her up for an Anne Geddes moment:

Aloha from Maui!

Adora's first trip to Napili Kai, Maui, introduced her to the unhurried way of life. Time spent on the beach was a daily treat with repeated sunscreen applications.

Adora also learned about the history of the Hawaiian people, including tea leaf leis. Although her cranial size measures larger than average, she still needed some help with the crowns. The lei brought out the warrior face!

The first venture into the ocean was less successful than we had hoped for, but the loud crashing waves make even the most seasoned beach-goer nervous.

However, the maitai party was a huge success... perhaps, a little more successful than we had hoped.

Look out, boys- this wahine is on the prowl!

Pastimes

Much like her father, Adora enjoys spending her down time with friends and watching baseball.

Although it's questionable how much of the game Adora saw, the A's beat the Tigers that day.

Here's Adora with Chuck Javernick and his daughter Amy Will...

And meeting (boy)friend Eli Olifson and his parents (I know, meeting the parents on a first date... a lot of pressure).

These are photos from Adora's first baseball game, but since we're A's fans we're burying the pictures at the bottom of this posting. Thanks to Jim Newman for the great tickets, and we even got a free bear!
